Description
Songye Mask 02Songye masks originate from the Congo and are hand carved from indigenous wood. The masks are traditionally worn by men during ceremonial dances. The masks are either masculine or feminine, identified by the crest in the centre of the mask. It is believed that the larger the crest the more magical powers the mask possesses. Stand is included. Please note stands may have minor imperfections.
Whilst used primarily as a headrest they would often be used by the elders in the community as a stool as well
